You can use your standard duty floor buffer (200 rpm max), without fear of damaging your machine. Because the direction of rotation pulls the diamonds across the surface, danger from gapped boards or cut outs such as heater vents catching the tool are eliminated. Diamonds are 50 grit and used primarily to remove hard surface finishes. Subsequent sanding should start at 60 grit or coarser.
